What challenge was the customer facing?
The client's raw materials differ in purity from one lot to the next, and standard Odoo has no way to account for that. It consumes each component by the weight written in the bill of materials, so a batch made from a weaker or a stronger lot would hold more or less of that raw material than the recipe intends.
The client weighs raw materials such as USP-grade mineral oil into each batch. Full packages go to one weighing zone and part packages to the weighing room set on each product, so every manufacturing order is split by package before weighing. Lots carry expiry dates, and the lot closest to expiry should be used first. The team works in Spanish and needed the new labels for both Colombia and Ecuador.
The recipes also mix different kinds of components. One of them, the vehicle, is the base that makes up the rest of the batch weight, so its quantity depends on how much of the other raw materials the batch actually used. Some components have no lot and no purity at all, and some lots come in above 100% purity, such as a mineral oil lot recorded at 101.9%. Units add another step, because a recipe in kilograms can draw on components stocked in grams.
The partner also planned to move the client from Odoo 16 to Odoo 18. Whatever TeqStars built for the manufacturing orders had to be migrated with the rest of the database and keep working the same way for the people preparing each batch.
What did the business need to achieve?
The goal was manufacturing orders that account for lot purity on their own, without anyone working out quantities for each batch. The partner and its client defined what that meant:
- the quantity to consume covers the lot with the lowest purity in stock
- lots are assigned automatically, nearest expiry first, from the order's own location
- the vehicle makes up the batch weight after the other components
- components that need no purity can be left out of the calculation
- the weighing split by package follows the lots actually chosen
- the same behavior on Odoo 18 after the migration
How did TeqStars help?
TeqStars added purity to Odoo manufacturing: every lot carries its purity, and each manufacturing order uses it. The weighing split the client already used now follows the lots chosen. The partner wrote each requirement with its client, and TeqStars delivered it in small, tested steps.
- Every lot records its purity as a percentage, shown in Spanish as “Concentración”, and each company can switch purity on in its Manufacturing settings.
- When an order is confirmed, the quantity to consume for each raw material is raised to cover the lot with the lowest purity in stock, so enough material is reserved.
- A Calculate Purity button that assigns lots automatically, nearest expiry date first, using only stock in the order's source location, and lists every product that is short.
- Each component shows its effective amount, the quantity taken multiplied by the lot's purity, and the order cannot be saved until it matches the recipe.
- One component per bill of materials can be marked as the vehicle. After the other components are weighed, its quantity is set so the batch reaches the order's total weight.
- Components used as written can be left out of the purity calculation in the bill of materials, and their quantity entered freely.
- Lots above 100% purity handled, including orders that use a lot fully, partly or together with other lots.
- Lot choices that show the product, purity, remaining quantity and expiry date, so the person weighing can see which lot to take.
- The recipe quantity appears next to the purity-adjusted quantity on each order, so the difference is visible at a glance.
- A Repartition button rebuilds the weighing split by lot: full packages to one zone, part packages to the weighing room set on the product, and each line of the split carries its lot number.
The partner described each requirement with screenshots and worked examples, and TeqStars built them in that order: purity and lot details first, then the skip option, the recipe quantity, the weighing split and automatic lot assignment. Issues the client reported, such as a component without a lot that blocked the calculation, were reproduced and fixed, and every step was tested before delivery.
For the move to Odoo 18, TeqStars carried the purity features over and adapted them to the new version, so the team kept the same buttons, the same checks and the same Spanish labels. After the move, the vehicle's lot is chosen automatically again, and the order screens show only the locations the team uses.
In the same Odoo 18 project, TeqStars built three accounting features for the partner:
- Vendor bills from expense reports go to the vendor recorded on the expense.
- A sales order can be invoiced to several contacts by percentage, each on its own sales journal. The percentages must add up to 100%, and each invoice line takes its share of the quantity.
- Each loan carries a contact, which follows it to every installment and to its payment and reclassification entries, so loans can be followed per lender.

What business processes improved?
Before
Standard Odoo consumed each component by the weight in the bill of materials, with no place for a lot's purity. Users chose the lots on each manufacturing order by hand, and the weighing split by package did not follow the lots they chose.
After
The team confirms the manufacturing order and presses Calculate Purity. Odoo assigns lots by nearest expiry from the order's location, sets each quantity from the lot's purity, brings the vehicle up to the batch weight and names any product that is short. Repartition then splits the weighing by package and lot.

The client's manufacturing orders now do the purity arithmetic themselves. The person preparing a batch presses one button to get lots and quantities, and the effective amount check stops an order from being saved when the quantities do not match the recipe once purity is applied.
Lots are taken nearest expiry first and only from the order's own location, so stock closest to expiry is used first, and a shortage appears as a warning that names the products concerned. Components without a purity and the vehicle follow their own rules, so one calculation covers the whole bill of materials.
The purity features run on Odoo 18 with the same buttons and Spanish labels the team used on Odoo 16. The accounting features built alongside them handle expense bills, invoices split between contacts and loan entries in the same Odoo 18. The partner keeps sending new requirements for its clients to TeqStars.
